Best Philippine Health Sources Online (Part 1)

A while back, I shared a list of my favorite reliable health websites. A lot of the sources in the said list are international, so I thought of rounding up a few choice local sources too.

Mercury Drugstore

Disclosure: I write for their monthly print publication, Enrich Magazine.

World Immunization Week was last month, and to celebrate that, the largest drugstore chain in the country organized lectures on immunization and diabetes care in several of their branches. These were all live streamed on their official Facebook page. Questions were also fielded afterwards by the experts. If these topics are relevant to you, then I highly suggest watching the individual videos at the Videos section of their page.

Note:

I messaged them and suggested they create a YouTube channel where they could upload all their informational webinars. It’s hard looking for the videos just by scrolling down their feed.

UP Manila Channel

A recent discovery. Maintained by the university’s Information Publication and Public Affairs Office (IPPAO), their YouTube channel has videos tackling various subjects such as cancer screening and mental health. Their Facebook page similarly offers weekly webinars to the public every Wednesday from 12 noon to 1 p.m.; the latest one’s about HPV.

Doc Willie Ong

Another fairly recent discovery. Dr. Willie Ong is a very popular internist and cardiologist who – together with his physician wife – generously shares medical advice to his millions of followers online. From high blood pressure to smelly genitals, the Ong couple’s got you covered. There are two ways you can follow him: Facebook and YouTube.

Notes:

His videos and captions are mostly in Filipino.

He’s running for Senator in this year’s elections. This post is not an endorsement of his candidacy but an affirmation of his health advocacy.

Who else should I include in this Best Philippine Health Sources Online list? Do let me know.

P.S. I promised to create a series of foot injury-friendly workout videos this year. I’m having a hard time figuring out the techie stuff, though, so bear with me while I sort that stuff out. :/
